How to inflate foil balloons. The correct equipment should be used to prevent balloons from bursting. While some people do have some success from using disposable helium canisters, it isn’t recommended. The correct equipment includes a device that restricts the speed, pressure and flow of helium distribution during inflation. When the pressure is strong and the balloon is nearly reached it’s limit, the inflation device prevents further helium from entering into the balloon.
These videos give great examples on how to inflate foil balloons :
These devices click onto re-fillable helium tanks. The most popular attachment is the classic auto-fill foil inflator to inflate foil balloons.
The round circular section acts as a device to restrict helium flow from the tank as the pressure from the balloon increases. The pressure increases as the balloon nears the maximum inflation. Other inflator tools for foils include :
Would a balloon shop refund a balloon if it burst through incorrect inflation ?
Here is a real message between ourselves and one of our ebay customers regarding a bust foil balloon.
The customer complains about the quality of the balloon, then admits to using the incorrect tools to inflate a foil balloon :
Hello we recently purchased two personalised numbered balloons for a party we was decorating. We was quite disappointed with the quality of the balloons once we unravelled them, one of the loops at the top was broken. The number 3 burst whilst inflating and we inflate on a regular basis so this wasn’t caused by over inflating. The other balloon was fine except for a loop that was missing,As you can imagine this caused an issue and a disappointed client. We had to go out and purchase a plain number 3 so I am hoping you can offer a refund, I can also send you back the burst 3 in case you want to follow it up with your supplier.
Please do send them back to us for a refund.
Thankyou for the quick response, just to verify you will be refunding the postage aswell
No, we just refund the item.
Can you confirm the valve type used to inflate the balloon please.
Hello we used a disposable helium canister, and like I previously advised the other balloon inflated fine but the number 3 just burst. We have inflated a lot of balloons in the past so it wasn’t due to over inflation. I feel we have been inconvenienced enough,to now go further out of our way after running around at the last minute having to replace the balloon that burst, haveing to return and pay for the postage for a faulty item isn’t really acceptable.
Thanks for your reply.
Disposable balloon canisters are only to be used for inflating latex balloons as they don’t include a regulator. Without a regulator it could cause foil balloons to burst. The regulator reduces the flow of helium as the balloon inflates preventing burstage before balloons are fully inflated. We recommend that you use a balloon inflation services offered by supermarkets, hobby craft and balloon shops as they will use the correct tools for filling foil balloons.
For more information on buying the correct inflation tool, please type “conwin classic auto-fill foil inflator” into your search engine.
I hope this helps your service.
That customer never contacted us again after we pointed out they were using the incorrect valve. Here is another customer who requested a refund. This time for a large hole in their balloon. When they item did eventually return the item to us, we could see the item was damaged from a knife or scissors possibly from the customer attempting to open the item from the packaging. The customer was adamant that it arrived in this condition and it wasn’t their fault. We gave them a refund even though we know we didn’t send it to them in a damaged condition.
It’s my son’s birthday party this morning, I have just opened the balloon sent and there is a huge hole down the side!! I am extremely angry, so upset and disappointed.
Please process an immediate refund
I do apologise. Its does seen something has gone wrong during delivery of your balloon.
Please return for a full refund.
Thank you for your response. I have attached photographs of the balloon for your reference. It would be quite an inconvenience to return the item not to mention added cost to me.
Please see photos attached and issue a full refund as requested.
There was no photos attached to your communication.
eBay won t let me attach pics. Are you able to provide your mobile number and I can WhatsApp the images to you? Or is there a setting on eBay that you (as the seller) can access to allow images?
If ebay is preventing attachments, its usually because the file is to large. If this is the case, the picture size will need reducing.
Ok thanks. Reduced size, hopefully they have come through now?
No pictures received
It has now been one week since I requested a refund for this balloon that arrived with a big hole in.
I have sent pictures of the balloon for your reference. Please issue full refund immediately as requested several times.
We have not received any pictures and you have refused to return the item as requested.
I sent the balloon back to you as requested via tracked delivery. We have a message saying that it was attempted to deliver on Tuesday and a card was left with you to notify you of this.
I would appreciate a response and my refund
Was it royal mail who attempted a delivery ?
Once confirmed I will chase it up.
It has now been 2 weeks since I requested a refund.
Item has been sent back to you as requested, following images I sent to you (but reporting they were not received).
Please ensure my full refund is issued by the end of the day.
Your original purchase date was 2nd March 2018. Our returns policy is 14 days and buyer pays for return. This is clearly stated on our product listing. You have held onto the item for over 3 weeks and have not acted within the returns policy. I am actually still waiting for the item to be delivered. I will make a refund decision when the item gets returned to me.
1. We received the item on the 8th march.
2. I opened the item on the morning of my son s birthday party; 10th March ready to inflate and saw the huge hole in the balloon. I messaged you straight away.
3. I sent several photos on several attempts to show you the damage, you reported to me that you did not receive the pictures.
4. I sent the item back to you on the 19th via tracked delivery, this was delivered to you on 20th but you did not answer (We have proof of this). A card was therefore left for you, you need to go and pick up the item from your stated depot.
The effort and struggle to get my refund has been unreal. After constant communication too!! It s an £8 item that was damaged on arrival. I can t understand why you haven t collected the item from the Redfern park delivery office as stated and then issued the refund?!
I have refunded the item now. The item has been cut with scissors or a knife either during delivery or from opening the parcel, Can I suggest next time you purchase items online for a birthday, you order them a few weeks before the required date and then check the item on receipt. If problems or damages occur with the delivery, they can then be rectified before the birthday. If you do find a problem, return the item immediately as many ebay sellers only offer a 14 day return policy.
I hope this advise assists you in the future.
No further communication. It’s always good to buy birthday items a month or two before the required celebration date. Any problems can be rectified.
